Day One of being Pfizered

I saw it coming but it still hit hard. Mr. Nice Guy informed me that my job was being eliminated. He spoke and paused as in normal conversation. I said Thank you, all while thinking what the hell am I thanking him for. He was professional. I ended up saying I've never been through this before, so I don't know what to say. What I wanted to say was why are you pausing do you think I have something profound to say about the fact that my position (those are the terms used so that one doesn't take it personally) has been eliminated. He wants to meet with me on Monday to shake my hand (kiss me good bye) Not sure what I should say. Should I tell him the truth as I see it?
